Avery Duarte joined Jellum Law in August 2025 after relocating to Minnesota with her husband. A former third-grade teacher in South Dakota, she brought the same organization, patience, and care she used in the classroom into her new role as Administrative Assistant. In a short time, she has become a trusted point of contact for colleagues throughout the firm, building the kind of relationships that let coworkers know they have someone reliable to turn to.
Avery’s approach to her work is guided by a philosophy she calls “being a marigold” — a term from her teaching days for someone who helps others thrive through support and encouragement. She aims to bring positivity to the office every day, going above and beyond on her tasks while looking for ways to make the people around her smile.
Clients know Avery as timely and detail-focused, someone who resolves questions and concerns quickly and efficiently. Colleagues describe her as a positive, dependable presence they can count on. She enjoys taking initiative, coordinating projects, and supporting her team to keep goals on track, while her organizational skills help her manage multiple responsibilities and catch potential issues before they become problems. Her greatest strengths are her leadership, attention to detail, and creativity. Avery is always looking for creative ways to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the firm.
Avery earned her degree in Elementary Education from South Dakota State University and is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA). She enjoys attending industry conferences alongside the firm’s leadership, allowing her opportunities to build face-to-face relationships with the clients the firm serves.
Outside the office, Avery enjoys traveling, doing puzzles, and golfing with her family.
